Welcome!

Hello there! I am Libby, this is my first post here, and I am very excited to share little about myself and my ongoing journey to minimalism. I would like to start the reason why I decided to change my lifestyle. I will try to make it short. First, I would like to start with what is minimalism? Minimalism is a mindset and a way of life. There is no set definition of what being a minimalist is, but there is one thing all minimalist agree on, and that is: less is more. The purpose of minimalism is to eliminate the things that clutter your home and your mind and only keep the things you love. This idea is different for everyone. By no means does it mean you HAVE to live like other minimalists, but live with only the things that make YOU happy.

My journey began a few years ago when I decided to change my eating habits. Started consuming less unhealthy and processed foods and started eating more lean proteins and vegetables. As small and insignificant as that may seem, it changed my mindset. I decided that eating better was just the first step. Slowly, I started replacing all foods and products that contain unhealthy chemicals and preservatives for more natural and organic options. Some things I made, others I purchased. While this made me happy, I still had a problem I wasn't aware was causing such disarray in my life.

Over the years we accumulate a lot of things. Things that we want but do not necessarily need. It is not our fault, this is the effect of consumerism. This is where I found myself. I saw things I liked and thought, I want that, I’ll find a space for it. That started to become a problem as I racked up more and more things. What I began to realize is that these things didn't even make me happy, they did the exact opposite. I found myself coming home in a foul mood because the stuff was everywhere! And I do not like clutter (no one does...right?). So the solution? Eliminate! And this is still where I am on my journey. Eliminating/downsizing/decluttering is a long process, however, I continue to incorporate everything I am learning into my everyday life.

So here is what to expect from this blog...

I am still learning about minimalism. I read other blogs, find ideas on Pinterest, and read books about minimalism and living simply. Here I will share some old and new ideas that I am trying out; New products or ways to live a more environmentally friendly life; and finally personal habits and mindset that lead me into my minimalist lifestyle. I will start posting on Sunday's and Wednesday's. If you are interested in joining me on this journey, please subscribe to my blog and leave me comments below!
